Jibreel Adebayo Olaniran > OKE-OGUN NEWS 24 GOODWILL MESSAGE TO IFELODUN OMO IGBOHO ON HER ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING (AGM) BEGINNING ON MONDAY, 12TH OF JANUARY, 2015. I wish to congratulate all indigenes of Igboho, home and abroad, for Almighty God blessings on us;that spared our lives to witness this new year, 2015.I pray that, God will enable us to celebrate more years in peace and sound health;with abundant of wealth. I wish I could attend the meeting to contribute my own little contributions to the growth and developments of my dear town,but due to circumstances beyond my control, I am unable to make the trip. Though,I believe the Association does not involve herself in Partisan Politics, I will like to submit that something urgently need to be done to curb the excesses of unguided Politicians : (1) that promotes disaffection and disunity in the town and Local government at large. (2) Unlike before that each Political Party will tell us their manifestos for the entire State to know why they should vote for any of the Party and expectations of the Citizenry;in this new dispensation both Political Parties and their aspirants keep mute on benefits acruable to the citizens and communities when they are voted in as Governor. Our Political office holders are not helping matters in this regard,in the last 16years of political manipulations and governance in Nigeria, where are the dividend of democracy from both Federal government and Oyo State government in Igboho and Oorelope Local government in general ? Politicians of nowadays care only for their pockets, families and close associates but not for Community human resources and infrastructural developments. Our Local government administration is not an exception in the shortfall of their expectations in infrastructural developments, Oorelope Local government is 25years this year,to whom much is given, much is expected. Ifelodun Omo Igboho is highly known respected and recognized for human resources development and infrastructural developments,with this assessment, we need to be more proactive in making the Politicians accountable and responsible for Community developments(both human and infrastructure).Nowadays Politicians are having free ride(they have their ways and says without challenge or remorse ).The Community has to task the Politicians on developmental projects, if their intentions are to deliberately dodge or avoid their responsibilities to the Community. Please, permit me to share one of my articles of last year,2014 titled: IGBOHO OF MY DREAM-FOR THIS GENERATION. In any organization or society, there is always organizational or societal targets of achievement triggered by the vision and mission statements, Igboho with its hospitality and vast land is with advantage to serve many other towns around if my dreams come through for the town. The dreams may look infeasible but are realistic with collective efforts and connectivity. 1. INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION- Allocation of land should be made available free as incentives for people who want to set-up industry immediately, not only to acquire land for keep. Industrialization will improve socioeconomic development of the town. 2. TERTIARY INSTITUTION OF HIGHER LEARNING- We should work towards having either ,private, state or federal government NCE, technical college,polytec hnic, and university. The above will improve socioeconomic activities of the town and environment by bringing employment and development. 3. ESTABLISHMENT OF MEDIA HOUSE WITH FM RADIO STATION AND TELEVISION STATION [PRIVATE, STATE OR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT] - This will promote social-cultural activities and re- branding of the achievements and what is achievable from the town, and environment. 4. ESTABLISHMENT OF COMMERCIAL BANK- Banking industry should be encouraged in the town. The town is known for trade and commerce in every five days where a lot of cash/ fund exchange hands, this is what is exploited by bad boys along the forest reserve road. As the market pulls customers from far eastern and northern states as well western states of Nigeria, there will be security of life and money if there are banks where they can transfer their money for safe keeping till market day without carrying cash through the forest. 5. ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL PARASTATALS- In order to have spread of development in the area, availability of headquarters, of the followings in the town will boost federal presence and its attendant development to the town and environments i ) WAEC Office ii) NECO Office iii) FRSC HQ iv) Customs HQ v) Immigration HQ vi) Police Headquarters vii) Civil Defense HQ viii) Army Barrack ix )Nigeria Air Force HQ 6. IMPROVEMENT OF HEALTH INSTITUTION- The geometric growth of the population of Igboho makes the Rotimi Health Centre (of mid 70’s) that is ill equipped, inadequate to provide quality health service to the teaming population. People capitalize on this to establish registered/unregistered Clinics, Pharmacies, Medicine Stores and Traditional healing centres where peoples’ lives are endangered apart from exorbitant bills. People are referred to other higher health institutions when the patient may likely die in their hands. To reduce high mobility and mortality rate, Igboho deserves a GENERAL HOSPITAL {well equipped and well staffed} or a branch of Teaching Hospital from Oyo State Government as Igboho is a mini Nigeria (where you will find people from all States of the Federation and other Multinationals) that deserves quality Health Services. 7. PROVISION OF AERODROME (LATER AIRPORT)- Either individual Aerodrome or government designed should be made available as obtained in NASKO, Niger state. Hardly do you see any Head of state or President or governor coming to this area, they consider stress of travelling by road but if such facility is available, upon landing they will go to the hinterland by road. If they do not come, they will not know our needs. 8. MECHANISED AGRICULTURAL FARMS- Private establishment or individual that goes into mechanized farming in the town will smile home or to the bank every year as the town is blessed with fertile land for cash crops. The land mark and topography/landscape also encourages large scale farming. 9. ESTABLISHMENT OF FIRMS TO PROCESS FARM PRODUCE- The high yield of farm produce annually will also encourage processing firms for packaging them for exports or industry to turn them to raw materials for bigger manufacturing industry in and outside Nigeria. 10. BUILDING OF MINI STADIUM AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT- Many youths either have their talents undeveloped or killed within them, or they die with untapped talent. Building of mini stadium will promote sports developments among the youths of the town and environment. Many youths from the area would have been international stars possibly after representing the Country in international tournaments. Only a few youths have their ways outside the Country where they are making their livings from footballing and other sports. 11. ESTABLISHMENT OF WATER WORKS- Water works/ corporation as a matter of urgency need to be developed. In order to make potable water available for the citizenry, each ward should have minimum of two solar powered boreholes. More dams should be developed and their water treated and piped to all homes in the town and environment. Individuals, private companies, local government, have specific roles to play if the dreams should become realities. At community level, funds may have to be raised from luncheons to accomplish some of the developmental projects. THANKS FOR THE AUDIENCE, GOD BLESS YOU ALL !
