Jihad Islamic Holy War? Muslims Killing Jews & Christians? That is what we are told - by the western media. But what is the real truth behind this word Jihad ? ● Meaning of Jihad ⇛ Jihad means striving or struggling in the name of God Almighty ⇛ Jihad has a wider connotation and embraces every kind of striving in Gods cause. it is a struggle to do good and to remove injustice, oppression and evil from the society. This struggle should be spiritual as well as social, economic and political. ⇛ Jihad is to work hard to do right things. and it doesnt particullary mean a war or battle ● Types of Jihad ⇛ The greater jihad It is the spiritual struggle a person needs to make to conquer his own selfishness, lust or greed. and to purify ones soul of evil influences and overcoming things such as anger, greed, hatred, pride, or malice. and to live as God has instructed; following the rules of the faith, being devoted to God, doing everything can help other people. ⇛ The lesser Jihad It is the use of physical force in defense of Muslims against oppression and transgression by the enemies of God, Islam and Muslims. ● Reasons of Jihad ▸ Self-defence ▸ Strengthening Islam ▸ Protecting the freedom of Muslims to practise their faith ▸ Protecting Muslims against oppression, including overthrowing a tyrannical ruler ▸ Punishing an enemy who breaks an oath ▸ Putting right a wrong ● What is NOT Jihad ▸ Force people to convert to Islam ▸ Conquer other nations to colonise them ▸ Take territory for economic gain ▸ Settle disputes ▸ Demonstrate a leaders power ● Rules of Jihad ■ The opponent must always have started the fighting. ■ It must be fought to bring about good something that God will approve of. ■ Every other way of solving the problem must be tried before resorting to war. ■ Innocent Women, children, and old people should not be killed or hurt. ■ Never Kill Animals or Destroy Crops and Property must not be damaged. ■ Enemies must be treated with justice. ■ The war must stop as soon as the enemy asks for peace. ○ Jihad in The Noble Quran ○ Fight in the cause of God those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for God loveth not transgressors.2:190 Those who invoke not, with God, any other god, nor slay such life as God has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this (not only) meets punishment.
