Jim Garrow This anniversary of one of the great stirring speeches - TopicsExpress

Jim Garrow This anniversary of one of the great stirring speeches of this nations history was marred by the hollow words from the hollow man himself, Barack Obama. What we remember of that great speech of MLK is quite personal but for me it was not only heartfelt but had in its directness, its wisdom and its simplicity an authority that was undeniable. An authority that rested in the actions of the speaker himself. The bravery of the humble but determined belief that all men are created equal in spite of the society of the day which still acted as if some were more equal than others. The contrasting lack of authority of the man who represents elitism, favoritism and cronyism was evident in the response across the nation. We were fortunate to have had Martin Luther King at an important juncture in American history. It is sad to see what became of the legacy that he left. It has been squandered by those he thought to enrich and left in ruins by those who did not honor these words -"to you from failing hands we pass the torch, Be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep." Rest in Peace Martin Luther King and thank you. - Dr. Jim Garrow -
