Jim Lawrences photo of a grizzly bear checking out his camera has gone viral on social media and now he’s hoping to use the photo to bring awareness to B.C.’s trophy hunting policies. The controversial practice of hunting grizzly bears is still permitted in B.C. during spring and autumn, but has been banned in other provinces including Alberta, declaring the animals a threatened species in 2010. “Ideally the ultimate goal is the government would be able to drop the grizzly bear trophy hunt,” Lawrence said. “These bears are worth so much more financially to the government for viewing.”
