Jim Porter attended the committee meeting on the Bluegrass - TopicsExpress

Jim Porter attended the committee meeting on the Bluegrass Pipeline held in Frankfort Thursday September 05. The usual arguments were made by the proponents of the pipeline: Additional jobs created, pipeline will be safe, good neighbor to the rest of the country, etc. The appeal was backed up by the veiled threat of the use of imminent domain. Tom Fitzgerald was a great speaker for the opposition. He pointed out that although the NUMBER of pipeline incidents was far smaller than those caused by truck and train transport the volume of spillage by pipelines was over 100 times greater than by surface transportation.
