Jim Stitley The system will monitor all functions and processes of the facility. For example we have 7 pieces of equipment that use natural gas. Each piece has a gas flow meter on it. Each flow meter is analog pulse. I will convert the analog to a digital signal and feed it through the data highway to a central system and computer. We also use 1.8 million gallons of water per month so I will monitor process flow, gallons used plus PH and temperatures. That is just the tip of the iceberg. All of these functions will allow me to generate cost projections over the fiscal year plus it will be a superb energy management tool. Precise knowledge of water and gas usage will also help me to prepare and stay on top of EPA emission standards and limits, as well as affording me precise data for preparing State, Federal, City and County reports and logs. My job has evolved into more Environmental then just keeping the facility and equipment running. Since I hired on here I have taken a ton of additional schooling just to be certified and allowed to do Environmental reports. It has been a challenge and some days I keep changing hats. : )
