Jimmy Donnelly My very good friend Jimmy Donnelly, the ex-Belfast Celtic winger, was in touch as usual over the Christmas period. In our conversation I told Jimmy I was engaged in preparing the item on Alex Ferguson which appears in this week’s column. Jimmy was quick to tell me of the time he met Sir Alex…..and asked for his autograph! The Old Trafford maestro duly obliged…..and really I feel he might well have asked Jimmy for his!!!!!!!!!!! Jimmy tells me that in their conversation Sir Alex mentioned the fact that his father had turned out once for Gentoran during the War years ----I never knew that!!!!!!!
