Joanne has been glancing at our most recent issue of the Economist and wondering why the cover showed people playing soccer behind the caption, “Beautiful Game, Dirty Business.” This morning she asked me if I had read the article and, if so, why were they saying that? I said I had read it, but that John Oliver explains it better than I can, despite an over-reliance on expletives (which is pretty much everywhere nowadays, so I should probably stop apologizing when I post a profanity-laced video since it’s sometimes hard to post one that isn’t!). Seriously, while I like watching NFL football, I hate the NFL itself, but my complaint with them is that they are tacky, greedy, and tasteless. FIFA reaches levels of corruption that make other sports leagues look downright principled and quaint! Much like those folks who run the Olympics, actually…
