Job Advert: Energy Efficiency Officer -Ucare Climate Challenge Project 40 hours per week @ £15,000(Gross Salary) Per year Report To: Project Coordinator Job Description: To support the Project Coordinator in the delivery of Energy efficiency advice to cut co2e emission among 400 Pakistani/Afghani/Bengali households by enabling the project to reach communities as possible; identifying the needs of community members and taking a lead in the delivery of the energy efficiency advice appointments. We aim to include workers from Asian communities with different community languages if possible. Responsibilities and Duties 1-Engage with different Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities in Glasgow to make sure they know about the project and support and encourage them to take part in the project. 2-Assist the Project Coordinator in identifying the access and participation needs of different community members and working out how best to meet these. 3-Ensure that all project participants have sufficient opportunity to feed their ideas, thoughts and concerns into the project. 4-Deliver Energy Efficiency Advice appointments and provide initial and follow up support. Support and encourage all of the project participants to increase their awareness and understanding of climate change. 5-Assist with the recruitment, induction and training of the project volunteers. Support the project volunteers as they engage in peer education activities, organising the social events. 6-Support the participation of members of different communities in the Community Advisory Board. 7-Assist the Project Coordinator with the general consultation work. 8-Assist the Project Coordinator in publicising the project events. 9-Assist with the delivery of the social events. 10-Collect information that will be used for monitoring and evaluation. Required Qualifications Desirable: A relevant qualification at HNC/HND level or above (in Community Learning and Development, Social Work or equivalent). Experience and Skills Essential: 1- Candidate should have at least one year’s experience of community work or community development. This can be from any kind of work – paid, voluntary or college/university placement. 2- Candidate should have an experience of engaging with diverse communities and supporting participation of community members. 3-Candidate should have an experience of identifying and responding to needs of community members. 4- Candidate should have an experience of providing one to one support. 5- Candidate should an experience of planning, reflecting on and evaluating work. 6- Candidate should have experience of working as part of a team.
