Job Advert Internal and External Job Advertisement Vacancy No. SD-V-01-2014 Smile Again Africa Development Organization (SAADO) is a South Sudanese humanitarian organization that aim at eradicating poverty and conflict mitigation .For many, South Sudan is a country characterized by a horribly grim history and uncertain future. Seemingly never-ending war, grueling poverty, malnutrition, illiteracy, abuse of human rights especially women and children, famine and the list continues. SAADO is determining to achieve the dramatic change in world’s most vulnerable, new nation of South Sudan. SAADO is currently implementing a lives saving Food Aid distribution project in partnership with World Food Programme (WFP) in Twic east County Counties. SAADO is looking for a highly skilled and qualified person to fill the position of Job Title: Project Officer (2) Location: Twic East County Reports to: Field Coordinator Period: 4 Months with possibility of extension Job Purpose The Project Officer will be a full-time community based position in the Food Security and Livelihood Program. She/he will be at the frontline in supervision of the Food aid distributions, Monitoring markets and farming activities in the county Key Responsibility Co-ordinate and monitor the implementation of the Food Aid Interventions at the local level, in close collaboration with the partners e.g. WFP, CRS and RRC; Actively participate in community mobilization and sensitization on Agricultural issues. Together with counties Agricultural extension workers monitor and crop production, growth and hazard and advice the community through early warning early response system. Monitor and review the overall commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution at the site and verify if the amounts received have been properly recorded, damaged or suspected to be damaged; Supervise the efficient distribution of food items at the site and ensure proper distribution of entitlements and verify appropriate entitlements are distributed and provide feedback to (Field Coordinator) and others on the distribution; Assist in the conduct regular meetings of ( with Food Management Committee-FMC) and implementing partners on the commodity pipeline, distribution arrangements, food entitlements and other relevant issues at the counties level; Assist in the implementation of the plan of action, review achievement and constraints and provide feedback accordingly; In consultation with the (Field Coordinator) and implementing partners, encourage women’s access to economic skills development and sensitize girls and women on gender issues and gender focused activities; Report periodically to the (Field Coordinator) on relevant events regarding food management, distribution and other related issues; Identify any apparent issues in the programme and report them to the appropriate personnel; Monitor the field monitors performance Supervise and train other Field Monitors as appropriate; Perform other related duties as required. Personal Qualifications. • Degree in Agriculture or related field • Have at least 2 year experience in food security interventions, monitoring and programming with recognized NGOs. • Speak/read and write English. • Computer skills especially, Ms word, Ms Excel, Ms Power Point • Should have good organizational skills and have the ability to supervise field Monitors • Project Officer must be resident within the communities of intervention.
