Job Description Business Strategist Job Number: 15030 The Business Strategist will provide research and analysis into business issues, emerging strategic issues and business drivers that will impact the Land Services ability to achieve business plan and budget goals. Land Services (Corporate Properties Branch in Sustainable Development Department) undertakes residential, commercial and industrial land servicing and sale of properties to private parties for development purposes. This position provides consulting and analytical assistance to the Section management team in the areas of business scope and actions required to achieve long-term goals and performance measures. Your major responsibilities will include: Design and implementation of the Branch business model based on profit and net margin targets Develop and implement performance measures to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of services Develop policies and prepare reports and presentations for Committees of Council Lead the management strategy through the design and delivery of lot programs and activities Gather information on emerging issues, industry trends, innovations, and stakeholder and customer needs Lead a team through the research and analysis of business data Lead the development of business systems, forecasting models, and tools Prepare reports on trends, impacts, changing stakeholder and customer needs Conduct financial planning, align fees for services, and manage revenues including recommendations for financing Interface with corporate strategic planners and regional partners Participate as a team member in strategic corporate initiatives; develop strong business relationships, partnerships, and service level agreements To visualize what it is like to be on our team, visit The City of Edmonton Business Professionals Talent Hub Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Management or Economics or a related field A minimum of 7 years progressively responsible experience in business planning, budget development and management, and operations management, knowledge in or experience in land development and real estate would be considered an asset Experience in research and performance measurement, financial analysis, process improvement, process mapping, and organizational effectiveness Formal training or experience in principles such as six sigma, strategic management, continuous improvement, total quality management, and learning organizations Advanced skills in project management, business process analysis, and financial analysis Highly developed written, negotiating, consulting, and facilitation skills Ability to synthesize and articulate highly technical information for a diverse audience Strong leadership skills with proven ability to build and maintain relationships Hours of Work: 36.9 hours per week, Monday - Friday and eligible for the Earned Day off program.
