Costa Group (Tomato Category) is a state of the art, tomato glasshouse-growing company consisting of 20 hectares in Guyra NSW Australia. Tomato Category employs over 400 skilled staff including managers and a dedicated team of assistants to run their operations in its two 10 hectares production units in one location and 10 ha in development Job Opportunities – At the Costa Group, Tomato Category. Harvest Manager We currently have an opportunity for a Harvest Manager to join our team in Guyra. This role will oversee the management of all picking and leafing operations with particular emphasis on achieving maximum throughput and efficiency to ensure the highest possible yield and quality. Responsibilities include managing and directing supervisors to achieve target production, providing daily feedback and direction to relevant teams on picking and leafing operations, monitoring staffing levels and schedules to ensure norm times, quality and safety standards are met. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years’ experience in a labour supervisory role, tertiary qualifications in management/horticulture or similar and an interest/knowledge in growing the crop, as they will become part of the site growing team. This role will suit an individual with strong analytical and problem solving skills, an understanding of horticulture quality systems, and a strong focus on achieving results. Trainee Harvest Manager We also have an opportunity for a Trainee Harvest Manager to join our team in Guyra. This role will be working alongside our Harvest Manager in a supportive role learning growing techniques and day to day responsibilities as outlined in the above role profile to ensure the highest possible yield and quality. The successful candidate will have labour supervisory experience, tertiary qualifications in management/horticulture or similar and an interest/knowledge in growing the crop, as they will become part of the site growing team. This role will suit an individual with an understanding of horticulture quality systems and a strong focus on achieving results. Grower Manager Reporting to the Operations Manager, the primary purpose of this role is to manage growing strategies, monitor and analyse the crop over a 10ha glasshouse to achieve budget yield targets and quality standards. You will be responsible for maintaining and driving efficiencies with major growing inputs, liaising with the Packhouse and Harvest Manager daily on yield and quality. To be successful you will need to have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in Glasshouse tomato production, a degree in horticulture or equivalent and 2 years’ experience with the use of PRIVA Climate control or similar. This role will suit an individual with strong people/labour management experience, negotiation and influencing skills and a keen focus on results. Quality Assurance Manager Reporting to the Technical Manager this role will be responsible for managing the quality team as well as maintaining and improving food safety, quality, hygiene and phytosanitary systems at the Guyra 20ha glasshouse. Key responsibilities encompass maintaining appropriate FSANZ accreditation, certification to SQF 2000, Coles, WQA and other regulatory requirements, ensure product supplied to customers are compliant with MRL and FSANZ, review customer complaints and rejections and drive continuous improvement initiatives. To be the successful you will have a relevant tertiary qualification, sound knowledge of SQF, WQA and Coles standards, auditing of quality and food safety system experience and proven people management and communication skills. Technical and Business Development Manager We have an opportunity for a Technical and Business Development Manager to join the team in Guyra. The focus of this role is to provide technical direction and support to the Agronomy Manager, QA Manager and Grower Managers to ensure maximum yield of high quality tomatoes. There is a strong focus on new product development and expanding the external grower base to develop a stronger competitive edge. Key responsibilities include developing technical operations and agronomy for glasshouse, nursery and third party growers, support and coordinate external growers and benchmark performance internally and externally to achieve budget. To be the successful you will have proven technical and quality skills in glasshouse growing (5+ years), a relevant tertiary qualification, understanding of regulatory compliance and people management experience.
