Job Opportunities Due to a number of service changes Advocacy Focus have a range of employment opportunities as follows: Post 1 : Advocate Area of Operation: Chorley/South Ribble/West Lancashire Office Base: Leyland 16 hours, £17,161 - £19,126 Post 2: Advocate Area of Operation: North and East Lancashire (Preston/Ribble Valley, Burnley, Pendle, Hyndburn and Rossendale) Office Base: Accrington 21 hours, £17,161 - £19,126 Advocacy Focus is looking to recruit to 2 x Advocate posts to provide support to mental health service users in their dealings with health and social care. Advocates will carry a client caseload and support Area Leads to facilitate mental health peer/self advocacy groups. Successful candidates will have an understanding/commitment to user empowerment and experience of supporting clients through services. This post requires excellent organisation, communication skills and a flexible approach. Post 3: Independent Mental Capacity Advocate Area of Operation: Lancashire Office base: Flexible (Leyland, Accrington or Blackpool) Full or part time hours available, £19,621 - £21,519 Advocacy Focus is looking to recruit an IMCA Project Worker to provide non instructed advocacy support to individuals who lack capacity in relation to decisions around serious medical treatment, accommodation issues, deprivation of liberty and safeguarding in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 guidelines. An IMCA will assist and inform the decision making process, where possible representing the service users views and safeguarding their human rights. Successful candidates will preferably have an understanding of advocacy principles, the key elements of the Mental Capacity Act and non instructed advocacy approaches. Candidates must have an ability to write reports, a high level of record keeping, an ability to research information from a range of sources and communicate well with service users. Excellent communication skills and ability to work with a range of clients is essential.
