S/he is expected to become a key face of MAVC to the outside world and will establish and promote MAVC as a ‘thought & practice leader’ in the field of Transparency & Accountability. The Policy & Learning Director is instrumental in translating latest developments, good practises and international trends in the field of Transparency & Accountability and citizen engagement into MAVC strategies. S/he will ensure robust evidence based learning from inside and outside the programme is implemented. The Policy & Learning Director is the linchpin between the different elements of the programme: between the research component coordinated by IDS and the practitioners’ experiences of Ushahidi and Hivos. S/he is also responsible for the monitoring & evaluation of the programme, working in close collaboration with the external evaluator assigned to MAVC. Key competencies Five to eight years of relevant international work experience; Up to date knowledge on the latest developments and thinking with regard to citizen engagement, transparency & accountability, open data and open government; Ability to translate external trends and innovative practises into MAVC strategies; Masters degree in a relevant field (e.g. international affairs, social or political science, international development); Exceptional writing skills in English and the ability to compose compelling briefings, reports and media pieces; Engaging public speaker with strong networking skills; Strong advisory skills and team worker attitude; Organised, detail-oriented with the ability to consistently meet tight deadlines; Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
