Job Posting: FAMILY ACTIVITIES COORDINATOR CHOICES, ELIMINATING DOMESTIC VIOLENCE The Family Activities Coordinator serves as a direct service provider to the family members in the shelter. They are responsible for developing and implementing educational, recreational and group activities for children ages newborn to 17 years old. Along with providing support for victims residing at CHOICES shelter, the Family Activities Coordinator is to: maintain professional standards in her/his conduct; stimulate cooperative and coordinated service delivery; provide a communication link between the Family Service program component and other staff and program areas; and provide information and recommendations regarding the quality of services provided. The Family Activities Coordinator will be evaluated annually by the Clinical Supervisor. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field Experience: Crisis intervention; experience in providing direct services in some segment of the human services field. Knowledge of early education and child development alone with at least one year of experience working with children. Performance Requirements: 1. Provide a safe, supportive, structured environment for mothers and children in crisis situations 2. Model and teach positive forms of nurturance, fun, discipline and anger management to both mothers and children. 3. Coordinate recreation, art and play activities for all youth. 4. Develop and implement family activities such as birthday’s, holiday celebrations and other important family functions. 5. Provide mechanisms for the enrollment of children in schools when appropriate. 6. Provide information and help for enrollment in to other social services as needed such as daycare and counseling. 7. Provide thorough documentation on all client related data. 8. Provide quality crisis telephone counseling, referral, information and assessment for admittance to the shelter in accordance with polices standards and programs. 9. Maintain cleanliness of childcare areas’ of shelter. 10. Provide crisis intervention and stabilization services to persons in crisis at the shelter or on the crisis line. 11. Educate victims regarding safety planning. 12. Provide feedback to Clinical Services Supervisor for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) meetings as assigned. 13. Attend and contribute to all appropriate staff meetings. 14. Educate staff and volunteers regarding issues related to domestic violence. 15. Serve on appropriate staff committees as needed. 16. All other duties, as assigned by the Executive Director or the Deputy Executive Director.
