Job Posting: Technical Buyer with ZF North America in Northville, MI Sunday, December 14 (Application Deadline) Position Summary: Responsible for activities pertaining to the launch and ongoing project needs of prototype and production material for a specific manufacturing location (i.e. Newton, NC or Lapeer, MI). Secondary responsibility is to support (as needed) the Acquisition Buyer and/or Purchasing Manager – CCT North America for new business opportunities. Role Expectations: * Support project launches by working with project/launch manager and the project team (sales, design engineering, commodity buyer, supplier quality, etc) in regard to purchased components * Responsible for the RFQ/quotation process for engineering changes (does not include engineering changes before a A/B/C project is awarded/kicked off) * Address plant specific needs re: purchasing topics and the supply base * VAVE idea generation/cost savings * Travel between corporate offices and manufacturing locations to ensure proper relationship building/teamwork and communication * Support Acquisition Buyer and Purchasing Manager with acquisition projects (A/B/C projects) as needed * Understand ZF purchasing initiatives such as LR10, QR83, GD04/07, T&Cs, COPRA, AIS, SupplyOn, etc. * Adhere to all ZF procedures and guidelines Position Responsibilities: * For awarded A/B/C projects, receive Project Purchasing Form (PPF) from Acquisition Buyer and launches the project from Gate B2 through EOP/service/aftermarket * Coordinates and tracks progress of Commodity Buyers in an effort to obtain necessary approvals for sourcing (E.G. DSDB, CSDB) and ensures on-time launch of the supplier/project * Work in cross-functional (sometimes Global) teams to support the requirements of the Plant/Product Line during launch and production * Ensure all applicable Engis checklists are approved and APQP activities are completed on time * Direct contact for suppliers for all launch/production issues and travels to suppliers when necessary * Consolidate purchasing data according to plant specific needs (e.g. BOM material cost updates) * Negotiate with suppliers on tooling timing and part delivery timing according to project needs while considering cost, quality and pedigree. Determine the optimal solution for plant project needs (in conjunction with commodity buyer). * Responsible for initiating requisitions, processing of spot buy orders, tooling orders and Scheduling Agreements. Ensures that all procedures have been followed and requirements have been met before processing the orders. * Identify troubled programs/components within manufacturing facility and coordinates efforts to fix issues * Generate ideas and supports plant VAVE as it relates to purchased components. Benchmarks and ensures that commodity strategy aligns with Plant/Product Line needs. * Support product line specific requirements * Quote engineering changes with the supply base (for A/B/C projects after Gate B2 and all CMS/CML projects) in coordination with the cross functional team Essential Skills and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred Skills and experience: * Spanish and/or German speaking/reading/writing * SAP proficiency * Blueprint reading * QS/TS auditing * Negotiating skills * Working in global/multicultural environment.
