Job Reference: 196-LIS1602 Job Title: Senior Radiotherapy Equipment Servicing Technician Area of Work: Senior Radiotherapy Equipment Servicing Technician Employer: Guys and St. Thomas NHS Foundation Trust Department: Medical Physics Location: London Salary: £36,917 - £46,837 pa inc Job Type: Permanent Staff Group: Additional Professional Scientific & Technical Pay Scheme: Agenda for change Pay Band: 7 Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week Closing Date: 3/02/2014 Description MEDICAL PHYSICS DEPARTMENT Senior Radiotherapy Equipment Servicing Technician Band 7 Technologist: £36,552 to £46,374 pa inclusive of high cost area allowance. We are looking for an electronics engineer with extensive experience with linear accelerators to undertake repair, quality control and maintenance work. A team of engineers provide support for radiotherapy equipment within the Trust, looking after six Elekta linear accelerators, two CT simulators, and Superficial and Orthovoltage machines. Support is also provided to mobile x-ray units and first line support to a TomoTherapy treatment machine. Based in Radiotherapy Equipment Servicing within Medical Physics, the post involves working with a range of radiotherapy and physics equipment, carrying out maintenance, fault-finding and undertaking calibration and QC procedures. You should have relevant medical electronic experience within a hospital environment and be educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications and experience. You will have significant experience of working in radiotherapy engineering. You should have good communication skills and be able to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams. The Trust is currently embarking on building a new Radiotherapy Cancer Centre, due to open on site in 2016, which will give the successful applicant a good opportunity to develop their skills on brand new equipment. A Satellite centre with two linear accelerators is also planned for Sidcup and is due to open at the end of 2015. Guys and St Thomas Hospitals are set in the heart of London with good transport links. The Trust has an interest-free loan scheme for season ticket purchase, a staff club, fitness centre & swimming pool etc. Guys Hospital is sited adjacent to London Bridge station, whilst St Thomas Hospital is sited opposite the Houses of Parliament and is close to Waterloo station. A regular shuttle bus service is provided between sites.
