DUTIES: This medical center operates 24 hours, seven days per week and you may be required to work days, evenings, nights, holidays, and/or weekends, to include modification in shifts and/or tours of duty, to meet medical center and patient care needs. DUTIES: The incumbent is responsible for Utilization Management and Transfer Office Reports. This includes working with, training, and directing data entry clerks; processing, compiling, computing, basic analysis and reconciliation, and editing of statistical data. The incumbent is responsible for determining that accurate relationships exist between ward and provider assignments, as well as appropriate InterQual criteria pertaining to level of care. InterQual is the national criteria for admissions and continued stay eligibility. In this capacity, incumbent works with National UM Team in developing, testing, implementing, and utilization of NUMI, FBCS and VSSC applications. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining excellent communication between and with National Team, Veterans Integrated Service Network (VISN), local professionals, and data entry staff. The incumbent is responsible for creating and designing report formats and database structures for planned new dashboard development. He/she prepares data for reports and presentations using PowerPoint, Word, Excel or other software applications.Reports are utilized to determine InterQual compliance percentages and reasons for failure; reports may be used for provider evaluations or ratings; and may also be used by Executive Management to determine action plans for the Medical Center including adding, deletion of programs offered, training needed, or changes in resource management. Transfer, Consult, and FBCS statistics that are compiled and managed by the Program Assistant are utilized locally, at the VISN level, and nationally to determine timeliness and movement statistics, and are also used in Medical Center performance measures. The database data are also used by VISN and Central Office for calculating compliance statistics and comparison data to VAs nationwide. Specialized Experience is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of that position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position. Specialized experience can be defined as the experience processing, compiling, computing, performing basic analysis and reconciliation; creating and designing report formats and database structures; obtaining data collection and transfer of patients, and demonstrating a working knowledge of Government-wide, Agency and facility procedures and requirements in various administrative areas such as patient, transfer, patient travel eligibility and resources for transportation, and fee basis funding for medical services.
