Job Title: Director, Bullying Prevention Services, Prevent Child Abuse America - Chicago Date: July 16, 2013 Summary: The Director, Bullying Prevention Services is to provide training and technical assistance on bullying prevention services to the state chapter and the Healthy Families America networks. This involves maintaining updated information on bullying prevention models, keeping current on emerging trends and advancement in the bullying prevention field, responding to specific requests from the networks, developing a sustainability strategy for the initiative and representing the national office at external events and activities. Job Duties & Expectations: Collecting and synthesizing updated information on bullying prevention models and research on the various prevention models and providing summaries to the networks. Providing technical assistance to the networks. Establishing dissemination strategies to the networks. Maintaining updated information on bullying prevention models and research on the various models. Identification and/or development of survey tools, materials, and information briefs that inform, educate and assist the networks with the connection of bullying and child abuse as well as advances and emerging trends in the bullying prevention area. Developing grant proposals that both sustain and advance the national office efforts and provide joint funding opportunities for the networks. Representing the national office at bullying prevention meetings. Preparing an annual budget for bullying prevention. Serving as project contact with the Sigma Delta Tau national sorority and the national office’s Bullying Prevention Advisory Committee. Developing training, resource materials, curricula, materials & toolkits Developing content for and facilitating network conference calls and webinars. Developing strategies that incorporate the prevention aspects of bullying into the everyday work of the national office and the networks. Managing grants awarded to the national office for bullying prevention. Developing strategies and work plans to advance the prevention efforts. Qualifications: Eligibility for the position requires a minimum of three years of experience in bullying prevention or closely related work, one year of which preferably would have been as a lead researcher or Director of Bullying Prevention Program. This is a full time management position that is not open to entry level applicants. The individual initially will report to the CEO and will be a member of the senior management team but eventually will be supervised by a Vice-President of Research & Program when the Vice-President position ultimately is established and filled. Funds for the position are “dedicated” or restricted funds from a Sigma Delta Tau annual gift, which at this time, has been continuous for over 20 years. The individual must be able to perform all the job duties and expectations satisfactorily. To perform this job successfully, the position must have both experience and expertise in the field of bullying prevention. Specific qualifications include: Education Preferred: Master degree in Social Work Counseling, Public Health, Education, Policy, Social Sciences, Human Services, Child Development or related field of study. Required: A Bachelor degree in any of the above fields. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Powerpoint. Good understanding of academic research, including accessing and summarizing scholarly publications relevant to bullying and its prevention. Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, but competency in Spanish would be an advantage. Strong critical thinking skills to understand, translate and implement complex project issues. Physical demands: Primary a desk job with intermittent traveling. Work Environment: The individual must live in the Chicago area and work in the national office which is conveniently located near the Wabash Avenue and Adams, CTA Brown line “L” stop in the East Loop. Additional Information: The noise level is nominal, the current staff are highly motivated and mission driven, and the environment is one of teamwork. Compensation: The National Office of Prevent Child Abuse America is located at 228 South Wabash Avenue, Chicago, Illinois in a professional and vibrant area of the city. Prevent Child Abuse America is a 501 (c) (3) organization with chapters in all 50 states and home visitation sites in over 600 locations. Benefits include Health, Dental, Life, Vision and Disability Insurance The work hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Central Time, with a half hour off for lunch, equaling 37.5 work hours per week. Each employee receives 10 paid holidays, 5 sick days, 20 vacation days and 2 personal days per year. Salary is commensurate with educational and professional experience.
