GRANT OR EXTERNALLY FUNDED POSITION - This position will continue only if sufficient grant or external funds are provided. CURRENT HOURS AND STARTING TIME: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting time for this position is currently 8:30 a.m. DEPARTMENT: Macomb County Community Mental Health F.L.S.A. STATUS: Non-exempt HIRING AUTHORITY: Executive Director Under direction, implements provisions of transportation services to consumers of First Resources and Treatment North, implements maintenance of vehicles and maintains records of vehicle usage; performs related duties as assigned. Essential Functions: Transports consumers in a safe and orderly manner to and from scheduled activities or individual appointments as needed. Maintains vehicles in safe and clean condition. Completes vehicle pre-inspection prior to each vehicle operation, following established guidelines, and reports defects immediately to the supervisor. Checks vehicle on a daily basis for needed repairs, making requests for repairs as needed. Ensures assigned vehicle is clean and in proper operating condition following established guidelines. Maintains accurate transport records, inspection forms and other paperwork as required. Operates vehicle in a safe manner observing all traffic laws. Develops healthy human relationships with consumers. Serves as a role model for appropriate work behaviors for consumers. Observes and reports behavior and/or communication unusual to the specific consumers to the treatment staff. Provides first aid to consumers as needed. Comply with P.A. 390, as amended, known as the States Emergency Management Act and the County’s Emergency Management resolution as well as all related plans, policies and procedures covered by these statutes. Education, Training and Experience: Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Educational Development Test. Possession of basic First Aid and CPR certification. Possess and maintain a current Michigan Chauffer’s license. Minimum of six months of previous experience transporting individuals. Successful completion of the probationary period for the position of Mental Health Worker II - Transporter. Be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation. ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to operate a motor vehicle in a safe manner. Ability to work well with others and follow simple oral and written directions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and an operable insured automobile for authorized travel. Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy.
