Main, Mesquite, Texas Department: Parks and Recreation Print Job Information | Apply GENERAL SUMMARY Benefits Supplemental Questions To perform a variety of semi-skilled duties involved in the planting, care, and maintenance of park grounds; and to perform specialized projects as assigned. SUPERVISION General supervision is provided by the District Park Supervisor. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Participate in a variety of plant maintenance and landscape duties including trimming trees and shrubs, pulling weeds, mowing and edging lawns, raking recreation areas, watering plants and trees, sweeping, and clearing fallen trees from the public paths and walkways. Participate in a variety of park facilities maintenance duties including the preparation of baseball fields by reseeding and leveling the base paths on the baseball diamond, marking of bases, cutting of lines, and clearing debris from the parking lots. Operate a variety of tools and equipment including power tools, lawn mowers, trucks, and tractors; perform general maintenance duties including refueling, changing oil, and lubricating parts; make minor adjustments as necessary. Pick up litter from grounds and empty trash containers throughout assigned parks. Participate in the installation, maintenance and repair of fencing. Repair various hand tools, shovels, hoes, rakes, loppers, litter sticks, and axes; participate in the sharpening of chain saws and hand tools. Participate in checking in and out of park maintenance tools. Pick up and receive park maintenance parts and materials. MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS: EDUCATION Formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance. EXPERIENCE None required. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a valid Class C Texas drivers license; possession of a valid Class B Texas drivers license with tank endorsement and air brake requirement may be required depending upon work assignment. Must be available to work 30 hours per week schedule as follows: Monday – Wednesday 6:30am – 3:00pm Thursday 6:30am – 1:00pm agency.governmentjobs/mesquitetx/default.cfm
