About Us: myAgro is an award-winning social enterprise/non profit in West Africa that uses a mobile technology platform to provide a comprehensive set of services: (1) Access to fertilizer and seed packages on layaway (2) Technical Training (3) Market Access to premium buyers (4)Access to asset loans for appropriate small-scale farm equipment. Our model doubles farm income and helps farmers move out of poverty. Weve grown from 240 farmers to 1160 in the last year, and will continue to scale to 75,000 in the next five years. Small-scale farmers across the globe make up 70% of the worlds poor. We want to build a model for savings layaway in Mali and Senegal that can be adopted by other organizations to serve farmers throughout the world. Weve received early recognition for our work by One Acre Fund and Mulago Foundation and received prestigious awards from: Echoing Green Fellowship, Rainer Arnhold Fellows, Draper Richards Kaplan Social Entrepreneurship. Finance Consultant: This is an excellent opportunity for a financial management professional to apply their skills and help a rapidly scaling award-winning social enterprise/non profit in West Africa. The consultant would be working directly with program leadership to further develop and tune a financial system that integrates financial operations in the Mali and Senegal office with US reporting requirements. The consultant would also be involved in educating our local finance staff on these systems as well as other finance and accounting best practices. Depending on the consultants success and performance in this role, she/he will potentially be offered a long term extension beyond the initial 2 months. Responsibilities: • Carry out diagnostic review, assessment and analysis of current financial management techniques in the Mali and Senegal office. • Set up a financial manual w/ processes and checks and balances at all levels. • Develop financial monitoring tools and report templates. • Plan for in-house resources and organizational capacity to match the developed financial plans. • Plan for and deliver a financial training for myAgros Finance team onsite. (This will be determined by the capacity gaps that would have been identified by the volunteer) • Carry out remote mentoring of myAgros Finance team after completion of the on-the ground work. • Support hiring a finance team in Senegal. Requirements: • Oral and written fluency in French and English. • At least a Bachelors degree in business, finance, accounting and/or management; • Minimum of 2 years experience in supporting financial systems and HR. • Proficiency with accounting software (particularly QuickBooks). • Strong experience in spreadsheets and budget development across multiple departments/programs /projects. Preferred Qualities: • Great at problem-solving and commitment to continuous improvement. • CPA or equivalent. • Entrepreneurial, independent and comfortable moving forward in new areas. • Commitment to myAgros mission. • Positive, humble and easy-going attitude strongly preferred. • Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds. • Experience training and coaching finance teams a plus.
