Job Summary Position Description: CCC is seeking a dynamic and experienced candidate to serve as the Director of Finance to assist the organization in furthering its mission. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Director of Finance will provide oversight and maintenance of financial activities for organizations. The Director is responsible for providing hands-on financial leadership and is responsible for all daily financial activities, development of budgets, and assuring that all financial activities are managed to the highest standard of accountability. In collaboration with the Director of Operations, the Director of Finance will assist with efforts to promote organizational financial sustainability, including strategic planning and internal initiatives. The Director of Finance will identify and implement best practices, solve business challenges, strive for continual improvement, analyze internal and external financial trends and advise Senior Management and the Finance Committee of the Board of Directors. The position will work closely with the Executive and Management Teams as well as the Finance, Audit, and Endowment Committees of the Board of Directors. The Director of Finance supervises finance staff and contract accountants. Reports To Director of Operations Responsibilities Provide oversight and management of the daily activities and project financial management functions of the Finance Unit, including review of proposal budgets, grant financial reports, revenue projections, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, grants management, general ledger functions, and financial reports Ensure appropriate systems, controls and policies are in place and monitored, to ensure protection of all CCC financial assets Manage annual audit, federal/state tax and compliance reporting (including lobbying reports) Liaison with external auditors and government agencies Oversee and ensure compliance with all board-approved financial and accounting policies Oversee the production of financial reports to funders to ensure compliance with grant requirements and restrictions Prepare monthly budget-to-actual financial statements and information for the Managing Director, Executive Director, and project budget managers Oversee the exchange of data with project budget managers and Finance Unit to ensure financial reporting system reflects current and accurate information Oversee and review the monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts including bank accounts, accounts receivable, investments, fixed assets, other assets, accounts payable and other liability accounts Monitor cash flow, cash reserves and investment activity Prepare annual operating budget in consultation with the Director of Operations and in close collaboration with project budget managers Make hiring recommendations for the department, train and evaluate finance staff on day-to-day functions Support the Director of Operations in the staffing of the Board Finance Committees, Audit Committee, and Endowment Board Collaborate with the Institutional Advancement team to promote best practices around financial sustainability and develop management systems that advance collaboration Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting or relevant field. MBA, MPA or CPA preferred. Minimum 10 years of financial management or accounting experience, at least 5 of which are in a nonprofit setting. Demonstrated experience to plan and implement financial systems and procedures which allow an organization to operate efficiently. Proven experience in managing a finance department. Skilled at refining and developing processes. High proficiency in the use of Excel and computer based accounting systems, preferably experience with Blackbaud’s Financial Edge. Extensive knowledge of financial principles and practices in nonprofit organizations, including 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(4) activity. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership during periods of growth and/or change. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure. Demonstrated ability in managing multiple staff. Initiative and ability to research recommend and implement problem resolution. Ability to work in a small team environment and with all levels of staff and management. Commitment to CCC’s mission and values.
