Job opportunities at the MRC Counselor (1 post) HIV Prevention Research Unit Durban (Two Year Contract) Counselors are required to provide the following duties: Infectious disease (TB/ HIV/ STI) education and counseling HIV pre- and post-test counseling/ general counseling Administer informed consent (IC) and assess understanding Administer questionnaires Group and individual education Maintaining study documentation Research Administration Successful candidates must have: Matric (Grade 12) certificate Certified counseling certificate 1 – 2 years experience including research counseling experience and training Pre-Test/Post-Test Counseling – General Be computer literate Be able to write reports Be able to work in a team and mentor co-workers Advantages: Post matric qualification Knowledge of ARV adherence counseling Knowledge of ARV resistance counseling Have a holistic bio-psycho – social approach to HIV counseling A salary in the region of R95 575 per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in compliance with experience/qualifications.
