Job opportunities at the MRC Project Co-ordinator HIV Prevention Research Unit Durban (Two Year Contract) A Scientist/Project Co-ordinator is required to assume the following duties: Co-ordinate research activities related to the implementation of multiple research protocols at a clinical research site. Monitoring, supervision and quality control/quality assurance of informed consent documentation and procedures. Ensuring implementation, monitoring and updating of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). Supervision of data collection and document management. Monitoring and oversight of recruitment, retention and community outreach efforts at the clinical research site. Participate in and oversee quality control/quality assurance at the research site. Ensure that corrective and preventative action for citations generated from internal/external audits are addressed, and excellent data quality is achieved. Work with site managers and research team to ensure that all relevant study targets are met in a timely manner. Management and supervision of a multidisciplinary research team. Assist with scientific report writing/publications and presentations. Management of finance at the site. Supervision of operational activities at the site. A good understanding of Good Clinical Practice is essential. Applicant must be able to work under pressure and multi-task. Requirements: An Honours Degree. Masters degree will be a strong recommendation. 3-4 years’ experience in HIV/Health research environment 1-2 years’ experience with team training and supervision Computer literate in MS packages and spreadsheets. Good interpersonal skills. Certificate in Good Clinical Practice will be an advantage. Management and project coordination experience will be an advantage Previous experience in coordinating vaccine trials will be an advantage. Valid driver’s license A salary in the region of R267 158 per annum, cost-to-company will be negotiated in compliance with experience/qualifications.
