Job posting ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE City of Houston, TX - Houston, TX ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOCIATE 600 Jefferson St. M-F, 7:00am-4:00pm* *subject to change DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Compiles, edits and prepares correspondence, reports and directives. Maintains, prepares, revises and disseminates department rules, regulations, policies, procedures and other pertinent reference information. Provide office operations support such as preparing and composing correspondence, receiving and screening call and visitors, and screening and prioritizing mail. Responds to inquiries providing information requiring comprehensive knowledge of City and Department policies and procedures. Handles routine problems and situations by determining the approach or action to take. Effectively communicate with staff and citizens in a professional manner. Assists with activities and other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS The position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e. essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS Required a Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Liberal Arts, or a related field. MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS No experience is required. Professional administrative experience may be substituted for the above education requirement on a year-for-year basis. MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS Valid Drivers License and compliance with the City of Houston policy on driving AP2-2. Will be required to drive occasionally to events. PREFERENCES: *Preference shall be given to eligible veteran applicants provided such persons possess the qualifications necessary for competent discharge of the duties involved in the position applied for, such persons are among the most qualified candidates for the position, and all other factors in accordance with Executive Order 1-6.* GENERAL INFORMATION: SELECTION/SKILLS TEST REQUIRED The department may administer skills assessment test.
