Job was let down by his friends, but he refused to be discouraged. - TopicsExpress

Job was let down by his friends, but he refused to be discouraged. He decided to console himself since his friends had nothing good to offer except criticisms. Job recounted some of his good deeds to remind himself that he was not a bad person – as his friends presented. Job said to himself, “When the ear heard, then it blessed me, and when the eye saw, then it approved me; because I delivered the poor who cried out, the fatherless and the one who had no helper. The blessing of a perishing man came upon me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. I put on righteousness, and it clothed me; my justice was like a robe and a turban. I was eyes to the blind, and I was feet to the lame. I was a father to the poor, and I searched out the case that I did not know. I broke the fangs of the wicked, and plucked the victim from his teeth” (Job 29:11-17). Lesson: Christians should endeavor to assist other people. We should be helpful to our friends and neighbors whenever we have the opportunity. Our good efforts will be added to our resume which would be available for future references. Of course, an act of self-appraiser may not be necessary for a Christian, but God will reference our past deeds to determine how much he would bless us. Prayer: Dear God, please make me a good person who cares for the needs of other people. Help me to use my resources to assist my family, friends, and neighbors. Give me grace and strength to be your faithful ambassador on earth. For in the name of Jesus Christ I make my requests. Amen.
