Can you tell me about a time when ……… By asking this question the employer wants to know that you are going to think of new ways to improve things in the workplace. From an employer’s perspective, this will save the company time and money. This shows that you are a thinker, able and prepared to take initiative and see ways through problems. By providing examples of actions you have taken in the past to improve a procedure, worked to resolve a problem, overcome a major challenge or even delivered great customer service when there was a problem shows your ability to be flexible and useful in the workplace. To prepare for this question write down times when you have taken the initiative, dealt with a difficult situation, overcome objections from customers or any example that shows you can bring valuable skills to the workplace.
