Jobs at: Electoral Commission Vacancy title: Various Positions Deadline of this Job: 19th January 2015 Job details: Various Positions The Electoral Commission, which is established under Article 60 of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and mandated to conduct public elections and referenda, invites applications from suitably qualified persons with proven integrity and initiative, who are results oriented, able to work in teams under minimum supervision, and with excellent skills in client care to fill vacant positions within its establishment. Detailed job adverts can also be accessed on the Electoral Commission website ec.or.ug. 1: Election Officer/Assistant District Registrar No. of vacancies.. 23 Directorate: Operations Department Field Operations Reports to: District Registrar / Returning Officer Salary Scale: ECS 5 Duty Station: Any District Electoral Commission Office in Uganda. Key responsibilities: 1. Assist in drawing and implementing work plans for the District Electoral Commission office. 2. Maintain records for the District Electoral Commission equipment and re-usable materials. 3 Compile periodic District Electoral Commission reports. 4 Supervise subordinate staff. 5 Monitoring electoral activities in the district; nominations, campaigns and polling. 6 Counter signatory to the district Electoral Commission bank account. 7. Counter sign payment vouchers. 8. Minute Secretary to District meetings. 9. Any other official duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honors Bachelors Degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Development Studies, Education, Business Administration or a closely related field from a recognized University /Institution. Computer knowledge and being a registered voter are added advantages. Preferred skills, competencies and personal attributes: 1. High moral character and integrity. 2. Ability to command respect. , 3. Self-motivated and strategic thinker 4. Knowledge of Government Policies and Administrative Procedures. 5. Excellent written and spoken English with strong report writing and presentation skills. 6. Excellent interpersonal and team work skills. 7. Capacity to work with senior personalities in different occupations. 8. Analytical and problem solving skills. 9. Ability to work under tight deadlines and pressure. Minimum Experience: Applicants should have at least 2 years relevant working experience. Age limit: 23 years and above 2.VACANCY: Election Officer/Internal Audit No. of vacancies.. 1 Reports to:Senior Election Officer/Audit Salary Scale: ECS 5 Duty Station:EC Head Office with frequent travel upcountry. Key Responsibilities: 1. Carrying out planned audit assignments in compliance with set standards, procedures, rules and regulations. 2. Conducting systems audits and verification of payments. 3. Assisting in providing guidance on proper financial management procedures and regulations. 4. Reviewing Internal Audit control procedures and systems in use to test their adequacy and compliance. 5. Any other official duties as assigned. Minimum qualifications: 1. A Bachelors Degree in either Finance and Accounting or Commerce (Accounting Option), or Business Administration (Accounting Option) or a Professional Qualification from a recognized institution. 2. Computer knowledge is a must. 3. Being a registered voter is an added advantage. Working experience: Two years working experience at the level of Internal Auditor or equivalent level in a large and reputable organization. 3.VACANCY : Assistant Election Officer/ Registry No of vacancies: 1 Directorate Finance and Administration Department Human Resource Reports to Election Officer/Registry Salary Scale ECS 6(d) Duty Station Electoral Commission Headquarters. Key Responsibilities: 1. Assist in updating the personal and subject file-fists as required. 2. Receive and dispatch mail. 3. Draw up a file index for easy identification/reference. 4. Maintain an up-to-date inventory of existing files. 5. Assist the In-Charge/Registry in carrying out file assessment and census in view of closing some, opening new ones and weeding out non-active ones. 6. Any other duties unofficially assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should be Ugandans holding a Diploma in Records Management or a closely related field from a recognized Institution. Computer knowledge is a MUST and being a registered voter is an added advantage. Preferred skills, Competencies and Personal attributes: 1. High moral character and integrity 2. Excellent interpersonal and team work skills 3. Analytical skills. 4. Good command of spoken and written English 5. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Minimum Experience: No minimum work experience is required Age limit: 20 years and above 4.VACANCY : Assistant Election Officer/ Court Clerk No. of vacancies: 1 Department : Legal Reports to SEQ/Litigation Salary Scale : ECS 6(d) Duty Station EC Head Office With frequent travel upcountry. Key Responsibilities: 1. Filing and service of court process. 2. Attending to Chamber Registry 3. Monitoring ongoing cases 4. Maintaining the Legal Calendar for the Chambers 5. Obtaining cause lists from Courts of Law 6. Custodian of Legal Files 7. Updating the Chamber/Case work files 8. Conducting general searches 9. Any other official duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants should be Ugandans holding a Diploma in Law from Law Development Center, Kampala, with a Certificate in Process Server. Computer knowledge is a MUST and being a registered voter is an added advantage. Preferred skills, Competencies and Personal attributes: 1. High moral character and integrity 2. Excellent interpersonal and team work skills. 3. Good command of spoken and written English. 4. Ability to work under minimum supervision. Minimum Experience: Applicants should have at least 2 years work experience as Court Server.
