If anyone has the original CPAN video, it would make for a fascinating meme. From Bruce Lidner: So heres the damnedest thing. Earlier this morning, John Boehner and his entourage gave a quick presser to take turns bashing President Obama. Boehner only spoke for maybe a minute himself before stepping aside to let his minions take over, but it was pretty obvious that he was having a hard time with his elocution; particularly the word unilateral, which he mangled at least twice. He looked and sounded, for lack of a better term, propped-up DRUNK, and I immediately posted as much in my status update. After watching for a few minutes, I decided to back up the DVR and capture the moment to upload to Facebook for my friends to see, but the DVR function – for the first time EVER – refused to respond. So I tested it by watching some content that I had recorded recently, and it worked just fine. But for some reason, it wouldnt let me go back ten minutes to record Boehners babbling, and when I pressed the info button, it said Not Available. Finally, about 20 minutes later, it worked again, but it wouldnt let me go back as far as Boeners press conference. Very weird, and I commented on it at the time. Now Im not by any stretch of the word, a conspiracy theorist, but I immediately wondered if just maybe someone at the GOP saw what everyone else saw, picked up the red phone and asked the various media outlets to please scrub Boeheners shtick to spare him (and more importantly, the party) the embarrassment. Sure enough, some of my Facebook friends posted other links, one to CSPAN, one to NBC, and neither link worked: Content Unavailable. Someone posted a link to YouTube however, which DOES work... YouTube being the one place where you might expect to find it, since it was probably captured by someone unaffiliated with the Fourth Estate. And later in the morning, one of my customers mentioned that he too saw it, thought Boehner looked baked, and looked for it online, only to find a broken link. So, heres the deal. Assuming Im not drunk myself and this really happened; that someone, somewhere intervened between the Speakers sloppy performance, the cable outlets and our right to know, have we been punked? I pay Comcast big bucks for their service and additional bucks for the DVR package, which theoretically, means I can record whatever I want. Should powers beyond my Comcast agreement have the right to interfere with the programming I pay for? Normally, Id have just shrugged this off as a glitch, but since the CSPAN and NBC feeds mysteriously got blocked too, and one of my customers had the same experience, I just wonder. Watch the YouTube clip. Then ask yourself what the likelihood would be that my Comcast feed, CSPAN and NBC should all suddenly end their links during and following a live broadcast. Im not quite at the black helicopter stage just yet, but three-way coincidences are pretty damned rare. And this very conveniently benefits Agent Orange of Ohio, at the expense of our right to know... and to receive the Internet and cable services we pay dearly for.
