The Atonement and Anna Karenina director has signed up to helm the new big screen movie starring the fairytale hero for Warner Bros., and the project is being described as an introductory film, similar to Batman Begins. Greg Berlanti, best known for creating superhero TV show Arrow, will produce the film and Jason Fuchs has penned the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is very high on its latest project and has made it one of its priorities. The studios Peter Pan movie is just one of many in production at the moment, as Disney is adapting the childrens novel Peter and the Starcatchers with The Hunger Games director Gary Ross at the helm. Meanwhile, Magic Mike actor-and-producer Channing Tatum is developing a project called Pan with Joe Roth for Columbia Pictures. The character of Peter Pan was created by Scottish author J.M. Barrie and the green-clad youth has been the subject of many movies, including a famous 1953 Disney animated feature. Steven Spielberg directed a loose sequel to Barries books with Hook in 1991, and Universal and Columbia produced the 2003 film Peter Pan.
