Joe found his forever home! We are overjoyed that Joe is home, right where he belongs! We first told you about Joe, an extremely neglected senior, who we took under our wings in September, 2014. Joe was rescued by Tulsa Animal Welfare and blossomed under the loving care of his foster mom, Alli. The perfect ending to this story is that this sweet boy was adopted by Allis father-in-law! We wish you much love and happiness in your new life! This is Joes journey per Alli: Id like you all to meet Joe. Hes estimated to be about ten years old, and has been extremely neglected. The hair loss is from a severe flea infestation, as well as bacterial and yeast infections. He has an eye infection, and an ear infection, and numerous skin tags, and bumps, which Dr. Freji thinks are from chronic, untreated skin inflammation. Hes got some cracked teeth, and he needs to gain some weight, but hes happy. His tail doesnt stop wagging when you talk to him, and even during his exam, and having his temperature taken, all he tried to do was lick us. He was found as a stray by Tulsa Animal Welfare, and nobody came for him. My mom and I saw him while passing out treats earlier in the week, and when I saw my mom crying in the middle of the shelter I knew Joe wasnt going to stay there. Hes staying at the vets right now, while he gets a case of kennel cough cleared up, and then hell crash at here for a while. Losing Platty is still so raw, so were not looking for a permanent family member (though he has a place here as long as he needs) and were fostering through TAW at the moment. He is of course being treated for all his conditions, and hes loving discovering treats, and finding the comfiest places to lay. We have a couple of updates for you this Holiday Season. A lot of you have asked about Joe. Yes, we left his name as Joe. He has many nicknames, but we still call him Joe. He found a home! My father-in-law adopted him, and Im happy to report theyre as happy as two peas in a pod. Joe gets to be an only dog (which he loves) and there are no cats around (he hates cats). Hes got four acres to explore, and my father-in-law is retired so they get to spend almost all of every day together. Joe has had a full medical work up per Dr. Freije, hes had a dental, been neutered, and is now on a hypoallergenic diet to see if some of his skin issues are caused by food allergies. Hes gained a total of 15 pounds (hes up to 64 from the 49 he was originally) and hes a happy boy. I would say Joe found his happily ever after.
