Joensuu Music Winter Festival is dedicated to the Netherlands and “the land of tulips”. The opening concert will be conducted by Dutch Jurjen Hempel who is the conductor of the Joensuu City Symphony Orchestra. Ronald Brautigam will be the soloist. In addition, Duo Carel Kraayenhof & Juan Pablo DobaI as well as Pieter Wispelwey, will be performing in separate concerts. Joensuu Music Winter festival was organized for the first time in 1981. Nowadays it is the only annual classical music festival in the Eastern part of Finland during the winter season. The festival gathers, besides the local and regional audience, also listeners from the skiing holiday tourists arriving to the region. Joensuu Music Winter Festival is a four-day event and it takes place from 19th to 22nd February 2015.
