Joey 9248 (3 photos) Happy as can be, little Joey is a fantastic 6 year old Shih Tzu mix who was given to us because his owner was homeless. Thriving at the shelter, this tiny tot is quite content being on his own, but also loves to surround himself with good people. Social and energetic, Joey is looking for an active household who can give him plenty of physical and mental stimulation along with continued socialization. Engaging him in play, taking him on nice walks and hand feeding are all great ways to help in the bonding process. Speaking of toys and playtime, Joey seems to very much enjoy his squeaky toys, so his new family should practice well-mannered play with this vivacious fella. This is to avoid his taking his belongings too seriously and prevent him from not sharing. The more he engages with his owner(s) the more he will love to incorporate his family in playtime. Its very crucial that these little guys do not get spoiled because they can easily take advantage of their household and things can take a turn for the worse. Besides, a balanced dog who receives a daily routine by a confident handler is a much more happy and healthy pooch at the end of the day. Theres no reason why Joey wouldnt catch your eye and we hope he will capture your heart as easily as hes captured ours. — at Bergen County Animal Shelter.
