John 1:15-18 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This - TopicsExpress

John 1:15-18 John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. In Revelation 3, when Jesus addresses the church of Laodicea, He begins These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God. Not only was Jesus before John, He was before all people, the earth, and all of creation. Jesus is the beginning of the creation of God. Earlier in Revelation, as John takes in a vision of the Son of Man, Jesus says to him, Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death. The law revealed to us our sin, but it could not save us. By grace through faith in Christ we can be saved. He holds the keys, He is alive, and He has prevailed against sin and death! He has prevailed so that we all might experience what it is to truly live. Verse/Commentary courtesy of Verse-A-Day android app. verse-a-day/Apps
