John 1:16-17 16 And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. NKJV 1. You dont need more of Jesus. You already have received all of Him if you believe. What you and I need is a renewal of the mind concerning that which we have already received. (Col 2:9-10) 2. That truth in point one is only made possible by Gods grace. Non of us, not even at our best behaviour deserves the incredible privilege we have received; being called Gods own sons and daughters. (John 1:12) 3. The law was given, sent, dispatched; but grace and truth CAME. Grace just doesnt issue instructions. Grace comes and dwells and feels and experiences and understands us, even in our weakest moment. Thats why we are save only by grace. (John 1:14) 4. Truth is on the side of grace, not on the side of the law; hence his saying grace and truth. Grace and truth are twins that should never be separated. Christ was full of grace and truth. Also, note that truth comes after grace. Truth is best shared or taught in the context of grace, otherwise it can be hard to comprehend. The Bible becomes a difficult book to understand. (2Cor 3:14-18)
