John 15:14-16 You are my friends if you do what I command. 15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me. 16 You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name. Jesus is speaking in this scripture passage. It is hard to imagine Jesus, being God, coming down to earth to die for our sins. It is also hard to imagine that He would tell us everything that God the Father told Him. In just about any organization, there is a hierarchy of some sort. Some people are allowed to know everything. Whereas others are permitted to know later or not at all. Yet there is no group, no organization, no workplace that could remotely compare to the excellence and magnificence of the true and living God. Yet Jesus told all and called us friends. How amazing! He knew and knows all of our sins and imperfections, yet He loves us with a neverending love. He chose us so that we may go and produce fruit for the kingdom, giving us the right to ask the Father for help when we use the mighty name of Jesus. How awesome is our Lord. He demonstrated true love and humility like no one else ever could. Philippians 2:5-8 5 You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. 6 Though he was God,he did not think of equality with God as something to cling to. 7 Instead, he gave up his divine privileges; he took the humble position of a slave and was born as a human being. hen he appeared in human form, 8 he humbled himself in obedience to God and died a criminal’s death on a cross.
