John 15:9-12: As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Fathers commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. We are taught to remain in Gods love so that we wont tie our happy to anything but God. So that our joy will be complete. Complete means not lacking anything; filled up to the brink with joy no matter what; satisfied with a fullness we cant any other way. Imagine how beautiful it would be to live as a complete person. Incomplete people are difficult, demanding, and always in pursuit of the next thing that will surely fill them. They right all their wrongs and fill up all their insecurities. Incomplete people are desperate for others to notice their progress, but quickly realize compliments dont assure connection or intimacy. They are not more liked or welcomed in. The bad news, we are all incomplete people. The good news, Jesus loves incomplete people. And He wants us to know we CAN have complete joy by being secure enough in HIS love to reach out and love other incomplete people. Choose to be a Jesus Girl or a Jesus Boymeaning, one who has His joy in them, sustaining and directing them. Instead of looking at the incomplete persons offense, look at the hurt that is behind the messy reaction. One who does not react harshly to ones own incompleteness; one who does not wallow in self thoughts of how unfair and unkind this other person is, and one who CHOOSES TO love instead. Jesus and His truths are (should be) the ultimate filler of our heart. Let His thoughts be our thoughts. Let His ways be our ways. Let His truths go to the depths of our hearts and produce good things in our lives. Approach this world full of fellow incomplete people with the joy of Jesus and be led in peace. Lastly, keep your happy tied solely and completely to a Jesus.
