John 4:21-24 NLT Jesus replied, “Believe me, dear woman, the time is coming when it will no longer matter whether you worship the Father on this mountain or in Jerusalem. You Samaritans know very little about the one you worship, while we Jews know all about him, for salvation comes through the Jews. But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship him that way. For God is Spirit, so those who worship him must worship in spirit and in truth.” Some people define worship music as songs about Gods glory and majesty. When I read this passage it makes me think that to worship in the Spirit includes songs that say Holy Holy Holy is the Lord Almighty! but to worship in the Truth include songs that talk about overcoming obstacles, loving others, being kind, the beauty of nature, just being happy. I love both forms of worship in music, but I tend to gravitate towards more of the worship in truth variety (going by my definition). And I think that when I hear songs that are about the Truth of God it also reminds me of the Spirit of God, his power and majesty. Likewise, when I hear songs about the Greatness of God and all His Glory, it leads me to the truth about God and what He does for me. What worship songs have impacted you the most and why?
