John 4:5-14 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called - TopicsExpress

John 4:5-14 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph. Now Jacobs well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour. There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink. (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.) Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans. Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water? Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle? Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. As we look at this passage of scripture tonight, Jesus has come to rest by Jacobs well. Along comes a Samaritan woman who Jesus ask for a drink. She asks Him why, He being a Jew, ask of her a Samaritan to give Him a drink, seeing as the Jews had no dealings with the Samaritan. Jesus then tells her that if she knew who He was, she would ask Him to give her a drink. She didnt understand this, she tells Him that the well is deep and He has nothing to draw with so how could He give her a drink. Dear friends, we often make this same mistake. We need to understand that the things of God are spiritual and not necessarily physical. You see we live in a physical world, we think of things naturally, we seek help in natural, physical ways. We are often hung up on natural things and never considering the spiritual side of things. We look towards man for answers when we really should be seeking God. Dont get me wrong, we pray about it at times, but then instead of allowing God to lead have control of it, we want everything done in ways that make sense to us. We never stop to consider that God sees the big picture that we cannot see. We seek for things to be done on our way and on our time schedule, but remember that God tells us in His word Isaiah 55:8-9 that, For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. God knows what we need and wants us to learn how to trust in Him!!!!!!!!!! Do all of His ways make sense to us logically? No they dont, but He tells us that we walk by faith and not by sight. Now what is faith? In Hebrews 11:1 it tells us, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Faith is trusting in God. He tells us in Hebrews 11:6, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. He tells us in Proverbs 3:5 to Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. We need to understand that God has His ways and His ways are better then our ways!!!!!!!!!!!! He asked the question in Isaiah 55:1-3, Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David. In Isaiah 31:1-5 He says Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because they are many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the Lord! Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity. Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the Lord shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together. For thus hath the Lord spoken unto me, Like as the lion and the young lion roaring on his prey, when a multitude of shepherds is called forth against him, he will not be afraid of their voice, nor abase himself for the noise of them: so shall the Lord of hosts come down to fight for mount Zion, and for the hill thereof. As birds flying, so will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver it; and passing over he will preserve it. God will take care of us, if we will just learn to trust in Him. Do we or will we always understand it? No, but we do understand that no matter what the issue, whether it be safety, or healing, or financial needs, God is both mindful of our needs and able to provide!!!!!!!!!!! Philippians 4:19 says, But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Moses told the children of Israel in Exodus 14:13-14, And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever. The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace. God is going to take care of His people. He just tells us to put our faith and our trust in Him and follow His ways and He will take care or our needs!!!!!!!!!!! As we read last night, He tells us to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added unto you. Jesus tells us here that if we drink of the water that He gives we will never thirst again!!!!!!!!!! We need to submit our lives to Him and give Him total control of our lives and we will find peace, even in the midst of the storms!!!!!!!!!!! Think about it!!!!!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
