John 4:50-53 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!” Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household. Taking Jesus at His word. This Nobleman of Capernaum, whose son was sick unto death, sought Jesus that He might come down and heal his son. Jesus responded: Go your way; your son lives. So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to Him, and went his way. Am I taking Jesus at His word, does His word settle the issues of my heart and life? Jesus said: Do not worry; nor have an anxious mind (Luke 12:22-30). Jesus promised that as we submit to and follow Him that He would provide for all of our physical needs. Jesus said: Be of good cheer! (John 16:33) in the present world we have tribulation, but Jesus has overcome the world! I can have peace in this present, trouble filled world. Jesus said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life. (John 5:24) By taking Jesus at His word, I can have everlasting life today. Death no longer is of consequence for those who take Jesus at His word!
