John 5:7f 7 ‘Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.’ 8 Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’ 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked. Beloved, greetings as we said yesterday, people could employ illness, pain, and some unfortunate situation to hide or cover up their rebellion against God. From V. 7. this man made it clear to Jesus that he had no one to help him into the pool, we dont know if he could roll into the pool or just fall in, but whatever attempts he made he at best was the runner up in the race and only the first one in got healed. Can you notice the phrase: I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred? Guess who he was talking to? The creator, the supernatural Helper, the specialist in impossibilities, the Healer, the One who assigned an angel annually to stir up these very waters. He was telling his story to the Boss HIMSELF. Sounds like the undercover boss here doesnt it? Then v.8, Jesus intervenes with a simple yet firm command to do three things : Get up, Pick up your mat, and walk. see what obedience can do in V. 9. At once the man was cured, he picked up his mat and walked!!. Was this real, was this really happening, could he walk, really, after thirty-eight years? The impossible became possible just in a question of minutes. He had never walked, this was the first time ever for him to do it. How? Jesus was visiting, Jesus took interest in him, Jesus dialogued with him and asked if he wanted his need met, Jesus saw that he needed the miracle. He had one. Now to us beloved, what have you been struggling with for so long with no one to help you? Do you know another name for the Holy Spirit is HELPER? Do you know He is always available to HELP us? Can you call on Him today to help you deal with any impossible situation? Nothing is impossible with God. Remember whatever He commands you to do, just go right ahead and OBEY. May God make the impossible possible for you today and always in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Peace upon Israel, peace upon you.
