John 6:1-15 Besides the resurrection, this is the one miracle that is in all 4 gospels. A large crowd followed Jesus on the other side of the Sea of Galilee because of His healing the sick. He had compassion on the crowd of 5,000 men, not including the women and children and wanted to feed them. He asked Philip where to buy bread but He knew what He was going to do all along. Andrew said There is a boy here who has 4 barley loaves and 2 fish, but what are they for so many? As we know, Jesus took the bread and fish, gave thanks and distributed it to all those who were seated. Afterward, they gathered 12 baskets full of the fragments of food that was left. The people recognized the miracle and said This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world! But Jesus perceived that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king. So He withdrew again to the mountain by himself. The people didnt understand who Jesus was. They knew His miracles and that He was from God, but not that He was the Son of God. They wanted to make Him their king. But Jesus was to be a spiritual King, not a political one. Jesus would be the King of Israel but did not accept the offer of Satan or of these misguided people. He came to bring us a new kingdom where He would reign forever. Is He your King?
