John 6:50 “This is the bread which comes down out of heaven, so that one may eat of it and not die.” Jesus is the bread that came down from heaven (see vs. 48 & 51). So, what does he mean by “eat of it” in verse 50? I’m reminded of Jeremiah. He says in Jeremiah 15:16: “Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart.” We know that this doesn’t mean to literally eat the words, or to literally eat Jesus. So, when we see this term, think of what happens when we eat. The food gives us nutrients to keep us alive. It gives us energy. It helps satisfy our hunger. When we consume Jesus into our hearts, He gives us what we need to live forever. He keeps us going when life seems hard to handle. He satisfies our hunger for something better. Keep eating the Bread. ~Luke
