John 8:13-18 So the Pharisees objected, “You testify about - TopicsExpress

John 8:13-18 So the Pharisees objected, “You testify about yourself; your testimony is not true!” Jesus answered, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is true, because I know where I came from and where I am going. But you people do not know where I came from or where I am going. You people judge by outward appearances; I do not judge anyone. But if I judge, my evaluation is accurate, because I am not alone when I judge, but I and the Father who sent me do so together. It is written in your law that the testimony of two men is true. I testify about myself and the Father who sent me testifies about me.” There are times when we make the mistake of thinking that it is possible for God the Father to think one thing, and Jesus to think another. The Triune God (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) is always on the same page. Jesus has just told His audience that He is the light of the world, and that whoever follows Him will never walk in darkness again. This is difficult for the Pharisees to accept, because Jesus is placing Himself right in the middle of a right relationship with God. They challenge Jesus testimony about Himself because it is so hard to accept. Would they have challenged Him if Jesus had said something that fit into their false paradigm about God? Jesus could not say anything that fit that paradigm though, because He testifies about the truth, just like His Father in Heaven.
