John 8:31-36New International Version - UK (NIVUK) Dispute over whose children Jesus’ opponents are 31 To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, ‘If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. 32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.’ 33 They answered him, ‘We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?’ 34 Jesus replied, ‘Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35 Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it for ever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. WHY DO THE JEWS NOT UNDERSTAND THEY ARE NOT FREE. 1 John 3:6-9King James Version (KJV) 6 Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him. 7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous. 8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. 9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. WHY DO WE PREACH EVERYONE HAS TO KEEP SINNING AND THE WORD OF GOD TELLS US THAT WHOEVER IS BORN OF GOD CANNOT SIN? IS THE PATH NARROW? IS IT REALLY THAT HARD TO LOVE EACH OTHER? 1 John 4:7-8King James Version (KJV) 7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. 8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 3:10-24King James Version (KJV) 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 11 For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. 12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. LOVE OVERCOMES THE WORLD. 1 Corinthians 13:13New International Version (NIV) 13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. THE GREATEST OF THESE IS LOVE. TAKING CAPTIVE EVERY THOUGHT AND MAKING IT OBEDIENT TO CHRIST IS TAKING CAPTIVE OUR THOUGHTS AND MAKING THEM OBEDIENT TO LOVE. THE FRUIT OF TAKING CAPTIVE OUR THOUGHTS AND MAKING THEM OBEDIENT TO CHRIST IS LOVE. JESUS SAYS YOU WILL KNOW MY DISCIPLES BY THEIR LOVE. THE WORD OF GOD SAYS EVERYONE WHO LOVES IS BORN OF GOD. Matthew 22:35-40New International Version (NIV) 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’[a] 38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’[b] 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” JESUS SAYS IF WE FOLLOW HIM WE WILL KNOW THE TRUTH AND THE TRUTH WILL SET US FREE. LOVE NEVER FAILS. LOVE SETS US FREE. 1 John 4:9New International Version (NIV) 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. WE KNOW THAT WHEN WE LOVE WE PASS FROM DEATH TO LIFE AND WHEN WE BELIEVE IN CHRIST WE HAVE PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE. 1 John 3:14New International Version (NIV) 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. John 5:24New International Version (NIV) 24 “Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be judged but has crossed over from death to life. BELIEVING IN CHRIST MEANS WE BELIEVE IN LOVE. BELIEVING CHRIST MEANS NO JUDGEMENT. BELIEVING IN CHRIST MEANS ETERNAL LIFE NOW. BELIEVING IN CHRIST MEANS WE HAVE ALREADY PASSED FROM DEATH TO LIFE.
