John Allen has confirmed he will not be staying on as manager of the Limerick hurlers. Allen had widespread support within the county to continue in the position for a third year. The Cork man led them to their first Munster crown in 17 years with victory in the final over his native county, while they accounted for Tipperary in the Munster semis. Limerick then lost the All-Ireland semi-final to Clare, leading to much speculation over Allen’s future. Tonight he informed the players of his decision to step down, while club delegates have been informed at a county board meeting.
