John Anderson says: I am a math teacher. The Common Core math curriculum -- and make no mistake, it is curriculum, being an integrated set of teaching objectives, teaching materials, and tests -- seems to have been written either by someone with no good knowledge of mathematics, or by someone intent on damaging the math abilities of American children. I tutor students at night who are befuddled by their Common Core homework. Parents call me to repair the damage that is academic, cognitive, and psychological. I vacilate between thinking Common Core is the work of imbeciles, to putting on my proverbial tin foil hat and thinking that my mother was right, that our enemies will simply destroy us from within, with malice aforethought and the gradual gaining of internal control. It is time for us to realize that defeating Common Core will be a war, not a movement. All that is at stake are our children and their nation, America.
