John Boy & Billy started working together nearly35 years ago and first joined Charlotte-market rocker “Fox” WRFX Kannapolis (99.7) in Fall 1986. The show went into syndication in the early 1990s – and now John Isley, Billy James and syndicator Premiere Networks announce a “long-term” renewal. Premiere says the show’s clearing on more than 70 stations as well as (of course) iHeartRadio. Most affiliates come from the worlds of rock, classic rock or country. Premiere Networks President Julie Talbott calls John Boy & Billy a “unique program,” and it’s one that taps into southern sensibilities in particular, with what Premiere calls “a special emphasis on quirky characters and NASCAR coverage.” Along with some key clearances and ratings rankers, Premiere shares the news about “blue chip sponsors like ABC/ESPN, The Home Depot, Experian, ProFlowers, AutoZone and Masterbuilt.”
