John & Josephine Tan Must be congratulated once again on organising and presenting a very successful Freedom to Dance Singapore Open Championships held on Sunday 30th November in the fabulous Suntec International Convention Centre. Over three hundred couples converged on Singapore to contest the titles and grades. From juvenile to top professionals it was a very busy day for the thirty seven adjudicators representing sixteen countries. The competitions commenced at 8am and such is the enthusiasm now in Asian events hundreds of people were already in the ballroom to witness the juveniles, Juniors, youth, amateur and professional Latin American qualifying rounds. The afternoon session saw the ballroom qualifying events with some finals of the earlier competitions. For the evening the Suntec was transformed into an elegant room with tables beautifully set to accommodate 800 diners plus the very excited non dining audience which added together amounted to almost 1500 people. This of course created a great atmosphere for the evening semi finals and finals. Further highlights to delight the audience were the Pro-am demonstrations given by lovely ladies who together with their professional partners not only love to dance on this occasion but are also wonderful friends of the Singapore Championships and are happy to sponsor in various ways this ever growing international event. The final highlights were the stunning demonstrations by Michael Malitowiski and Joanna Leunis and Massimo Giogianni and Alessia Manfredini. Needless to say they were received with great enthusiasm and tumultuous applause. The entire and very long day was presented by Bronya Bishorek. On a personal note I was delighted once again with the support that many of todays competitors continue to show in the Freedom to Dance events. On behalf of everyone involved we thank John & Josephine for their continued devotion to presenting competition dancing in the Asian Pacific region. I look forward in anticipation to the announcement of the 2015 Singapore Open Championships date.
